Being the premier instrumental ensemble at Meadowlawn Middle School, the MMS Lancer Band is designed for 8th graders who have 2 years of band experience and 7th graders who have exceeded their expectations in Beginning Band. The Lancer Band performs for the annual MMS Winter Concert, Courtyard Concert, and Spring Concert. Lancer Band also performs for Concert Band MPA every March. With teacher approval, Lancer Band students are invited to participate in Solo & Ensemble MPA, and audition for the All-County and All-State Bands. 

New to MMS in 2023, The MMS Lancer Jazz Band is designed for 7th and 8th grade students who are also enrolled in Lancer Band. This ensemble operates throughout the year, simultaneously with standard band class. The Lancer Jazz Band performs for the annual MMS Winter Concert, Courtyard Concert, and Spring Concert, and will perform at the FBA District 9 Jazz MPA in 2024, for the first time in 6 years.

New to MMS in 2023, The MMS Blue Band is designed for 7th and 8th grade students who have one to two years of band experience. This ensemble expands upon all of the skills taught during Beginning Band. The Blue Band performs for the annual MMS Winter Concert, Courtyard Concert, and Spring Concert.

The MMS Beginning Band is designed for any students who have no or limited (less than one year) band experience. This ensemble is open to all students interested in learning to play an instrument. Students are taught the fundamentals of playing instruments, reading music, and basic music theory. The Beginning Band performs for the annual MMS Winter Concert, Courtyard Concert, and Spring Concert.
